Boosting up the speed of your Smart Bro - Broadband internet
There are times that I feel that 386kbps is a little slow for my Smart Bro connection. After 2 weeks of no internet connection at home, finally, Smart Bro is back and is now 512kbps! That’s 126kbps faster than the default 386kbps for your Php999.00 monthly plan.
See that? It may be 509kbps only on the Speedtest.net result but it’s only 3kbps short from reaching 512kbps!
How did my Smart BRO connection reached 512kbps?
Definitely the placement of the antenna being accessible through different Smart Cell Sites. (luckily mine is near 8 cell sites within the range of 0.4km to 2.6km far from my home. But that’s only one factor. It lies beneath the configuration of the canopy. The team yesterday that fixed my connection were so good that they set my connection from the default 386kbps up to 512kbps. (I knew that giving them coffee and sandwiches will make them nicer. LOL) Well of course, how is that possible and you did come here to see how they did it right? Good thing they did not delete the history of my browser and that made me able to access the canopy.
How to access the Canopy?
1. Through typing 169.254.1.1 on your browser. What I’m not sure though is if it’s the same for all the Smart BRO connections in the whole Philippines.
2. Go to the Configuration > Quality of Service (QoS) page.
3. Adjust the numbers to what you see on the image above.
4. Reboot / Restart your PC.
That hopefully boosted your Smart BRO internet connection.
Now, what’s the catch?
Of course, there should be at least something about it. The problem is, you should not touch anything else or you might ruin the configuration of your Smart BRO internet connection. So if you want to be sure, don’t touch your Canopy configuration at all. Leave it to the experts. Kids! Do not try this at home! But if you really want to boost your internet connection try this. Just don’t touch anything else.

this helps, pero di lahat ng oras gumagana. if you’re downloading from TORRENT sites, nakakatulong sya ng mga 15% sa gabi. yun lang observation ko. before my torrent is 30kp/s max ngaun 40 na

Baklasin nyo yung antenna tapos lipat nyo pwesto it will affect alot. pwamis plaes at alambre lang yan ok na…..my speed 800++kbps LOL
p.s. may pagka engot minsan yung nagiinstall ng antena

if u guys want to really improve the wireless connection, its a matter of combining the best reception and not too much configuration of the company. not to mention the settings your computer
first step:
self install nio ung canopy nio as HIGH as you can, coz the higher the antena is, the greater the reception. add as many “tubo as you can”
second step:
control panel > network connection > force IP and dns
third step:
open canopy page (ie 169.254.1.1) > QOS, set #s to 700,700,1500,1500 respectively then save changes then reboot canopy
fourth step:
control panel > network connection > obtain automatic IP and Dns
fifth step:
start > run > command > netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
sixth step:
reboot pc
reboot pc
November 20th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
have u tried it with corporate account of smart bro? ayaw gumana pare di mahanap yun ip add nya 169.254.1.1 static kc public address eh.

REVISION
HONESTLY > forcing IP and DNS doesnt do the trick, you only do that if the canopy doesnt give you your IP address and DNS. you also do this if you are having a hard time accessing the page on your canopy
doing that change in the local network connections IP/TCP properties really doesnt matter that much
STEP 1:
to find the valid IP on of your pc, go to START > RUN > CMD > type IPCONFIG
take note of your
IP ADDRESS > your IP address provided by the canopy coz it acts like your server (it should not start with 169)
SUBNET MASK
DEFAULT GATEWAY > will be the address of the canopy (this can start with 169)
NOW, second step is to know how exactly the system works.
EXPLANATION 1: the canopy that you have is really not a a usual modem/router. It actually serves as another “computer” where you “borrow” your connection. like when you go to internet cafe shops, there is a COMPUTER SERVER na pag HINDI nakaON e wala ring connection to the rest of the computers
STEP 3 (logic)
since the canopy is the SERVER where you BORROW your internet connection, you must make sure that the canopy is connected and is getting a good signal
TIP 2:
set ur CANOPY as high as possible
face the canopy surface where there is a good signal
*=
???how to know if its getting good signal???
ans: tag team, person x adjusts the canopy while person y checks the pc and the config of the canopy
person y: access default gateway you got using your internet explorer
*once you got the canopy page, go to PDA, scan for new AP’s, if you get as many base station while adjusting the canopy by person x, it means that the canopy is in good spot.
person y:
QOS, set #s to 800,200,1500,1500
step3:
save changes
reboot > WAIT FOR 3 MINUTES
STEP4:
START > RUN > CMD
ipconfig /release, then enter
ipconfig /renew, then enter
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, then enter
STEP4:
shut down pc
turn off canopy by unplugging its power adapter (wait 3 minutes)
power up canopy adapter
turn on pc
test your speed > brace yourself

if you are using smartbro corporate account this this trick doesn’t work. di ko maaccess ang canopy control panel naka static IP kasi galing sa kanila. di tulad ng residential na may 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip addressing, 125.xxx.xx.xxx ang sa corporate account.
ewan ko lang kasi sinubukan ko ayaw talaga gumana kahit anong ginawa ko para ma access lang ang canopy control panel
April 22nd, 2008 at 7:59 pm

May 13th, 2008 at 10:58 am
May 13th, 2008 at 11:01 am

It doesn’t work on corporate… but the you can access different canopies… i try to change remotely one of the canopy and it is working meaning i can able to change the settings et al..
Sino ba dito yong gumagamit ng corporate na gumagana ang configuration ng canopy? i just little bit confused… we have our own static ip..
June 13th, 2008 at 10:16 am
I have Software Version : CANOPY 8.1.5 SM-DES
Software BOOT Version : CANOPYBOOT 1.0
Board Type : P10
FPGA Version : 111306
PLD Version : 11
The problem is i cannot change the values of QOS settings to 500,500…after save changes ,reboot it reverts back to the defaul256,256,768,768.Btw my (Uplink + Downlink) Sustained Data Rate <= 512 kbps .Pls help so i can improve my speed.
June 22nd, 2008 at 8:05 am
right now i can able to see my own canopy not like before when i issue the command arp -a, other canopies ip displayed… in your concern probably you enable first the 100mbps capability in configuration –> general –> link speed –> check all the speeds…
we have the same version with one of mine..
