Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web. But why would I even use Silverlight if there’s already Adobe’s Flash?

I have downloaded and installed Silverlight, it is really quite faster to install than flash but that’s just it. No difference at all except for the name and the installation. However, when it comes to creating Silverlight, you don’t need a separate software if you already have a Microsoft Expression Studio and I believe this will be Microsoft’s cutting edge against Adobe.

I myself find Adobe’s software expensive but they are all worth it. But what if another competitor offers a cheaper means of giving the almost similar product? Now that is why I left Dreamweaver and is now using Expression Web. Another is the bulkiness. The Expression studio loads faster than Adobe’s. So I’m thinking, sooner or later, if developers and designers will migrate to Microsoft Expression Studio there will also be movement on downloading the Silverlight plug-in. Actually, just thinking that Bill Gates own Microsoft, Silverlight will definitely be used by browsers world wide and definitely will Light up the web.
